Prioritize purpose over position
(Philippians 1:12-26)
Three gifts (or tools) Paul uses to accomplish his purpose:
1) Chains
2) Critics
- As Christians we are to handle our critics with grace, humility, and love, reflecting the example of Paul and ultimately of Jesus.
- Avoid retaliation. (1 Peter 3:9)
- Stay calm and avoid quarrels. (2 Timothy 2:24)
- Pray for your critics. (Matthew 5:44)
- Examine yourself honestly. (Proverbs 15:31)
- Trust God for justice and vindication. (Romans 12:19
3) Crisis
- Our lives are the lenses that make a "little Jesus" look very big, and a "distant Jesus" come very close.
Application
(Philippians 1:27-30)
- Be Consistent
The world around us only knows the gospel that it sees in our lives
- Be Cooperative
- Be confident
