Collision at the Cross

Matthew 26: 1-16) 

1) Human plots unfold entirely. (Luke 22:2)

Jesus predicts His upcoming crucifixion, clearly being aware of the approaching plot. (vs. 1-2)
Judas Iscariot agrees to betray Jesus, driven by greed, disillusionment, and a misunderstanding of Jesus’s purpose as God’s plan for redemption. (vs. 14-16)

Proverbs 19:21

2) Notice the contrast of devotion and betrayal. (vs. 6-16)
True devotion to God often involves a sacrifice of selfishness and more trust in God and His greater purpose.

2 Corinthians 5:7, Hebrews 11:1

3) Despite human intentions, God was fully in control, using even conspiracy and betrayal to accomplish His redemptive plan. (Acts 2:22-23)

Romans 8:28

4) The Cross is the ultimate triumph over human scheming against God. (Isaiah 53:3-6)
