2 Chronicles 33:1-20
1) Wickedness, evil, and darkness grow roots when we continue in a pattern of sinfulness.
(vs. 1-9, Colossians 3:5)
2) Affliction may be God’s grace in work clothes, so turn the pressure and pain
into repentance.
(vs. 10-13)- Are you asking God to remove the pressure… or to remove the sin that
the pressure reveals? (2 Corinthians 7:10, Acts 2:38)
3) God’s glorious mercy breaks hard hearts, and true repentance doesn’t just
feel bad—it makes repairs.
(vs. 14-16)- He rebuilt what he had broken. (vs. 14)
- He got rid of anything that was an affront to God.
He threw them out! (vs. 15)
- He then restored the priority of worshipping God. (vs. 16)
- He told people about it. He shared his testimony of God’s grace and mercy and
encouraged people to turn and serve the Lord. (vs. 16)
4) God’s grace rewrites a story, but the ripple effects of sin can linger.
(vs. 17-20)- Faithfulness over time becomes a louder testimony than your failure.
CONCLUSION: God doesn’t cancel ruined lives…He creates redeemed ones.
