Tombstone [Part 1] Jehoram- A Story of Rebellion


2 Chronicles 21:4-20

1) The Life of Rebellion
(2 Chronicles 21:4-20,   2 Samuel 7:11b-17, 1 Kings 11:36) 

      • Rebellion always crowns self as king. Self on the throne puts God at the margins. (vs. 4)  
      • Rebellion weds compromise because who you yoke with shapes who you become. (vs. 6)  
      • Rebellion normalizes false worship and idols. (vs. 11)  
      • Rebellion forgets God’s faithfulness and covenant light. (vs. 7)  
      • Remember this: God’s mercy delays destruction so repentance can still happen. (2 Peter 3:9) 

2) The Legacy of Rebellion  

      • Warnings ignored become wounds endured. God’s warnings are grace with a steering wheel. (vs. 12-15)  
      • Recklessness and rebellion result in wrecking even more! (vs. 16-17) 
      • Reckless choices will write your tombstone. (vs. 18-20) 

3) Hope Beyond Rebellion  

      • The gospel turns epitaphs into testimonies.
        (Ephesians 2:1-5)
