Redeeming Rhythms: Sabbath Rest [Part 7]

Sabbath Rest

Sabbath is a weekly 24-hour period of unhurried time with no have-tos or ought-tos, resulting in rest, renewal, and space for connection with God.

Several truths about Sabbath rest:

1) Sabbath rest is not a reward you earn for hard work. It’s a gift from God that precedes work to enable us the energy and strength to work.

2) Sabbath serves as a reminder that our work will remain incomplete.

3) Sabbath is a day that moves us from production to resting in His presence.

Sabbath is not just rest from making things. It’s rest from the need to make something of ourselves.

4) Sabbath reminds us that we are not God.

5) Sabbath points us to the deeper rest we need that is only found in Christ.

6) More than just keeping the Sabbath, the Sabbath keeps us. There’s a spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical benefit to Sabbath rest.

The Sabbath is not just about rest, but about restoration.
