Into the Wilderness [Part 2] When Rebellion Sounds Reasonable

Numbers 16:1-35

1) Rebellion often sounds principled and gathers a gang before it reveals itself as pride. (vs.1-3)

      • Rebellion borrows the language of righteousness while serving the agenda of ambition. (James 3:14-18)

2) The heart of rebellion isn’t just disagreement with people, but a resistance to God and His order. (vs.4-15)

      • Rebellion against God’s order always hurts the community of God’s people. (Romans 13:1-2; Hebrews 13:17)

3) God takes His holiness and His order seriously, so we should not test Him. (vs. 16-35)

      • Humility bows where rebellion negotiates.

      • The antidote to rebellion is not stronger restraint. It is deeper humility before God.
