Rich Toward God [Part 3] Rich in Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19; Mark 8:36; Luke 12:13-21

1 Timothy 6:6-10

1) Loving money ignores true gain; contentment finds it. Contentment is the gain we keep. (vs. 6)

      • Your spending is always directly affected by your level of contentment.

      • Greed for money produces the discontentment of constant comparison.

2) Contentment stares past the grave. (vs. 7, Mark 8:36)

3) Contentment simplifies what greed complicates. (vs. 8)

4) Believers must learn to distinguish between true wants and needs. (vs. 8)

5) Love money and it will pierce you. (vs. 9-10)

6) Two blueprints to consider: Will we build bigger barns or a bigger Kingdom? (Luke 12:13-21)

      • Hoarding imagines future control; generosity practices present surrender.

7) Aim your money at eternity. (1 Timothy  6:17-19)
