1 Timothy 6:6-10
1) Loving money ignores true gain; contentment finds it. Contentment is the gain we keep. (vs. 6)
- Your spending is always directly affected by your level of contentment.
- Greed for money produces the discontentment of constant comparison.
2) Contentment stares past the grave. (vs. 7, Mark 8:36)
3) Contentment simplifies what greed complicates. (vs. 8)
4) Believers must learn to distinguish between true wants and needs. (vs. 8)
5) Love money and it will pierce you. (vs. 9-10)
6) Two blueprints to consider: Will we build bigger barns or a bigger Kingdom? (Luke 12:13-21)
- Hoarding imagines future control; generosity practices present surrender.
7) Aim your money at eternity. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
