Rich Toward God [Part 2] Generosity Aligns Us


Genesis 4:2-5; Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachi 3:8-10; 2 Corinthians 9:6-11;
Proverbs 11:24-25

Genesis 4:2-5

1) I will give to God my first and best and trust that He will bless the rest.

      • Biblical Principal: Order reveals honor. Who you put first proves who you trust most. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

      • It requires faith to give to God first. If you give to God last, it doesn’t require any faith.

2) Choose a percentage and a pattern that declares God’s supremacy in your life. (Malachi 3:8-10)


      • Why 10%?—Clear enough to be measurable, humble enough to be doable, stretching enough
        to require faith. (2 Corinthians 9:6-11)

3) Generosity isn’t something God wants from you; it’s something God wants for you. (Proverbs 11:24-25)

4) Generosity isn’t about amounts but alignment with God’s heart. It’s a spiritual formation practice like
reading the Bible and praying. It trains our hearts to trust and put God first.

      • Abel shows first fruits—alignment of priority.

      • Malachi teaches tithe—alignment of obedience and submission.

      • Proverbs and Paul show generosity—alignment of purpose.
