True Contentment in Christ
Philippians 4:10-23
1) Possess joyful gratitude for the gospel partnership we have with others in ministry. (vs. 10, 14-16)
2) Learn the secret of unshakeable contentment. (vs. 11-13)
- "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" is about endurance, not achievement.
1 Timothy 6:6-7
- You won't find true contentment by changing your circumstances—you'll find it by centering your soul on Jesus.
3) Value the blessing of generous hearts that advance God's Kingdom. (vs. 17-18)
Proverbs 11:25
4) Be reminded that God will always take care of His people to His credit and glory. (vs. 19)
Matthew 6:31-33
5) Even in hard places, God is working behind the scenes reaching hearts and expanding His Kingdom. (vs. 20-23)
This letter has shown us how to live with:
Humble confidence - "He who began a good work in
you will carry it on to completion."
Christ-centered mindset - "To live is Christ, and
to die is gain."
Gospel unity - "In humility, value others above
yourselves."
Holy pursuit - "I press on to take hold of that for which
Christ Jesus took hold of me."
Peace in the storms - "Do not be anxious about
anything...the peace of God will guard your hearts
and minds."
Contentment in every season - "I have learned the
secret...I can do all this through Him."
