Into the Wilderness [Part 6] Finishing Well by Living it Forward

Numbers 22:20-35; 23:8, 19-20; 24:13, 17-19

1) Faithful leaders humbly accept that their season is not forever.(vs.12-14)

Psalm 90:12

      • You cannot prepare the next generation well if you are still pretending your season will never end.

John 3:30

2) Moses’s heart is not mainly for his own legacy, but for the people’s future. (vs. 15-17)

      • A Godly leader thinks beyond his own season and cares deeply about who will guide the people next.

Ezekiel 34:2-6

      • In parenting: Are you only trying to get through today, or are you raising the next generation to know, love, and live Jesus?

      • In church leadership: Are you only maintaining what is now, or are you developing who is next?

      • In discipleship: Are you consuming ministry, or are you helping form others spiritually?

3) Preparing the next generation requires intentional investment, delegation of authority, and public affirmation. (vs.18-20)

      • The next generation of leaders are not prepared accidentally, but intentionallyThey need recognition, trust, opportunity, oversight, investment, affirmation, and meaningful responsibility from those in leadership now.

4) You finish well when you live faithfully to the very end, and you teach others to do the same (vs.22-23)

      • This passage should challenge every older believer, every parent, every leader, every mature Christian: Are you helping younger believers grow and prepare? Are you passing on wisdom, courage, and conviction? Are you strengthening those who will carry the mission after you?
      • This also challenges younger believers: Are you willing to be formed, mentored, and commissioned? Do you want influence, and are you willing to prepare for it?

Titus 2:1-8

Your faithfulness is not finished until you have helped someone else follow Jesus.
