- Discipleship means to grow in your faith as a disciple of Jesus.
- Discipleship happens best in the context of community.
- Psalm 133:1; John 17:20-23; Acts 2:42-47
- Koinonia or “fellowship” in Acts 2 literally means to participate.
- “Individual commitment to a group effort—that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” Vince Lombardi
- A Christian has a personal relationship with Jesus, but it must also be a shared relationship with Him.
- We were made for community:
- Love one another... (John 13:34)
- Be devoted to one another... (Romans 12:10a)
- Honor one another... (Romans 12:10b)
- Accept one another... (Romans 15:7)
- Serve one another in love... (Galatians 5:13)
- Be compassionate to one another... (Eph. 4:32)
- Submit to one another... (Eph. 5:21)
- Encourage one another... (1 Thess. 5:11)
- Spur one another on toward love... (Heb. 10:24)
- Live in harmony with one another... (1 Peter 3:8)
- We’re better together when we live in Jesus-centered community.
- Your relationship with Jesus is personal, but it is not individual.
- If you belong to Jesus, then you belong to everyone else who belongs to Jesus.
