1) When the pressure rises, we should always turn to God’s people and pray together. (vs.23-24)

  • Churches and friends that pray together, stay together. (Galatians 6:2)

2) Realize the greatness of God is bigger than the size of any threat. (vs.24-28; Isaiah 40:21-26)

3) Pray for guts and courage more often than comfort. (vs.29-30)

  • Sometimes the most powerful answer to prayer is not God removing what isyou, but God strengthening what isyou. (Ephesians 6:18)

4) God’s answer was bolder people rather than better circumstances. (vs.31)

THE CHALLENGE:

What could our church pray for?

What if Oakwood prayed:

  • God, do not merely make us comfortable...make us courageous.
  • Root us so deeply in Scripture that culture cannot move us.
  • Fill us with compassion for people far from Jesus.
  • Give us boldness to speak truth without fear and love people without compromise.
  • Raise up servants, missionaries, disciple-makers, ministry leaders, and courageous new believers.
  • Shake us free from apathy, consumerism, comfort, and silence.
  • Do something through us that can only be explained by Your power.
